Dans les entrailles chaudes de Petit-Goâve, berceau d’embruns et de légendes, naquit un enfant que les couleurs allaient choisir comme messager. Roody Saincila, poète du pigment et alchimiste de la lumière, incarne l’essence même d’un art qui respire, qui parle, qui pleure et qui chante. Depuis sa naissance, le 15 février 1987, c’est avec l’âme d’un conteur et la main d’un voyant qu’il trace les lignes de son destin artistique.
Chaque toile de Roody est un soupir retenu, une prière murmurée au creux du silence. Il peint comme on s’agenouille devant la vie : avec dévotion, avec urgence, avec amour. L’enfant qui écoutait jadis les histoires de son grand-père, les yeux grands ouverts aux merveilles de l’imaginaire, est devenu l’homme qui les grave aujourd’hui dans la chair du monde, à coups de couleurs et de visions.
C’est en 2005, aux Ateliers Mario ARISTHENE, que Roody aiguise son regard et apprend à dompter les mystères du pinceau. Les leçons de perspective, de lumière, de forme et de matière s’infusent lentement dans sa pratique. Mais plus encore que la technique, c’est la capacité à voir à ressentir qu’il cultive avec une patience d’artisan. Chaque nuance devient alors un souffle, chaque contraste une palpitation.
En 2021, au Centre d’art Haïti, sous l’aile du maître Frantz Zephirin, son regard se transforme. Le réalisme devient rêve, la figuration s’efface parfois pour céder la place à l’extase. Là, Roody ne peint plus seulement ce qu’il voit : il peint ce qu’il pressent, ce qu’il entend dans les replis du silence, dans le chant étouffé de la terre et des âmes oubliées.
Son œuvre est une célébration de la femme, de la jeunesse, de la résilience. Il n’y a pas chez lui de misérabilisme : il y a une lumière obstinée, une foi têtue dans les forces de vie. Ses personnages, souvent féminins, se dressent face au monde avec une grâce indomptable. Leurs yeux, vastes océans d’émotions, transpercent la toile et viennent rencontrer notre propre regard, comme pour nous rappeler notre devoir de tendresse.
Aujourd’hui, Roody Saincila s’apprête à offrir au monde une nouvelle offrande : « Kanzo ». Ce mot, chargé de mysticisme et de tradition, donne son nom à une nouvelle forme de peinture, une métamorphose de sa vision. Kanzo, c’est la fusion entre l’esprit et la matière, la couleur et le feu sacré. Ce n’est plus la peinture qui couvre la toile, mais l’âme même de Roody qui s’y incarne. Dans cette nouvelle voie, l’artiste embrasse l’ébullition du vivant, cherche à insuffler dans chaque œuvre une chaleur presque charnelle, une énergie palpitante, un souffle vital.
Avec Kanzo, il ne s’agit plus seulement de représenter : il s’agit de ressusciter. Le regardeur devient témoin d’un rituel, d’une initiation. Chaque œuvre devient une offrande au monde, un pont entre l’invisible et le tangible, une main tendue vers ceux qui, comme lui, cherchent à comprendre l’énigme de l’être.
À travers ses expositions à New York, au Canada, dans les galeries du monde, c’est une part d’Haïti qui voyage. Une Haïti lumineuse, indomptable, enracinée dans l’histoire et tournée vers l’avenir. Roody Saincila n’est pas seulement un artiste haïtien : il est un témoin, un passeur, un porteur de mémoire et d’espoir.
Il peint pour que l’on se souvienne, pour que l’on s’émeuve, pour que l’on s’élève. Ses toiles battent comme des cœurs, vibrent comme des chants, brûlent comme des prières. En elles, l’art n’est plus un luxe, mais une nécessité, un cri, un chant d’amour jeté au visage du monde.
Et si l’on tend bien l’oreille, au creux des couleurs de Roody, on entend encore la voix du grand-père, chuchotant ses histoires… et l’enfant devenu homme, devenu feu, les peint avec la tendresse infinie de ceux qui savent que la beauté est une forme de résistance.
