«Haïti : terre et regards. Une analyse écopoétique du paysage chez les premiers romanciers (1859-1923)», le dernier livre de la chercheure Silvia Boraso
L’univers foisonnant des premiers romanciers haïtiens sort de l’ombre grâce à la monographie Haïti et regards de Silvia Boraso, récemment parue chez Honoré Champion. Publié dans la collection Francophonie(s), cet ouvrage de 394 pages met en lumière la richesse d’un pan souvent méconnu de la littérature haïtienne.
À travers une approche écopoétique, cet ouvrage s’efforce de considérer ces œuvres sous une perspective inédite, invitant le lecteur à redécouvrir ce patrimoine littéraire riche et singulier. Le livre montre, d’un côté, comment la représentation du paysage proposée à l’intérieur de cette première production romanesque adhère au processus de resémantisation de l’imaginaire de la terre haïtienne qui tend à inverser la signification généralement attribuée au paysage caribéen en Occident. De l’autre, il met en lumière le discours précurseur que la première génération d’auteurs haïtiens a véritablement inauguré quant aux dégradations environnementales engendrées par le colonialisme.
Docteure ès lettres diplômée de l’université « Ca’Foscari » de Venise et de l’université Paris-Est Créteil, Silvia Boraso travaille sur les littératures francophones, notamment de l’espace atlantique. En 2021, sa thèse sur la représentation du paysage dans le roman haïtien du XIXe siècle a remporté le prix Vinci décerné par l’Université Franco-Italienne. Le projet de bourse postdoctorale Marie Skłodowska-Curie qu’elle a déposé en 2023 a obtenu le Sceau d’Excellence remis par la Commission Européenne. Actuellement, elle est post-doctorante à l’université de Gênes, où elle fait des recherches sur l’écriture religieuse féminine à l’époque de la Contre-Réforme.
