Quand je regarde la situation d'Haïti, je ne vois pas seulement une crise politique, une crise de sécurité ou une crise économique. Je vois surtout une crise de confiance. Trop de citoyens peinent à retrouver confiance dans la parole publique. Et sans confiance, aucun pays ne peut avancer durablement. Et ce, à tous les niveaux.
À mes yeux, quatre dérives alimentent cette crise: la tricherie, le mensonge, la falsification et la manipulation. Elles ne sont pas présentes de la même manière partout, mais elles touchent quatre domaines essentiels : la science, l'histoire, les religions et la politique.
Il ne s'agit pas de condamner ces domaines. Au contraire, la science peut éclairer, l'histoire peut nous aider à comprendre, les religions peuvent donner de l'espérance et la politique peut organiser la vie collective. Mais pour jouer ce rôle, chacun de ces domaines doit retrouver son exigence de vérité et de responsabilité.
