Haïti : plus d’une personne sur dix a fui les violences cette année
Plus de 1,4 million d’Haïtiens ont été contraints de fuir la violence des gangs depuis janvier, un record jamais atteint dans le pays, selon l’Organisation internationale pour les migrations (OIM).
Les routes de l’Artibonite, au nord de la capitale, Port-au-Prince, sont encombrées de familles fuyant à moto ou à pied, avec pour tout bagage des bassines regorgeant de linge en équilibre sur la tête. Partout en Haïti, la carte du déplacement se tâche de points rouges. Dans les écoles transformées en abris de fortune, les voix qui résonnent ne sont plus celles des écoliers. Ce sont les déplacés de la guerre des gangs, devenue la trame quotidienne du pays.
Depuis Genève, où elle est basée, et son antenne à Port-au-Prince, l’OIM a tiré jeudi la sonnette d’alarme. Plus de 1,4 million d’Haïtiens ont dû fuir leur foyer en 2025, dont près de la moitié sont des enfants, selon les dernières données issues de la matrice de suivi des déplacements de cette agence onusienne. Un chiffre sans précédent pour le pays, en hausse de plus d’un tiers depuis la fin de l’an dernier.
