Le National a dix ans. Le temps passe vite. Il semble encore passer plus vite en Haïti, car il passe mal. Avec son lot de désolations, d’occasions ratées, de gouvernance d’imposture. Si les autres nations se sont mises dans le courant du temps pour avancer vers la modernité, nous, nous avons marqué le pas. Nous avons décidé de reculer.
Dans ce désastre que beaucoup refusent d’admettre, le National est l’un des rares médias à vouloir, contre vents et marées, à vouloir rester dans la ligne d’un professionnalisme stricte, mais un professionnalisme éthique en ce sens que Le National a toujours privilégié l’intérêt de la communauté haïtienne.
Toute l’équipe qui a lancé le National sous la houlette de l’Ingénieur Hervé Lerouge partageait le même rêve : celui de l’émergence d’une citoyenneté fonctionnelle, c’est-à-dire une citoyenneté ayant les capacités de s’attaquer aux problèmes identifiés depuis des décennies, mais qu’une absence de volonté manifeste empêchait de traiter.
Le National dans ses rubriques diversifiées avait su s’entourer des meilleurs jeunes professionnels du pays. Que ce soit en économie, en culture, en politique, en société, Le National partageait un autre regard avec ces lecteurs, toujours dans le but de dépoussiérer des pensées, des points de vue figés dans une sorte de décadence accélérée. Le National surtout, avait ouvert ses colonnes à tous ceux qui avaient une parole intelligente à partager, une réflexion pouvant susciter des débats capables de nous mettre sur les rails d’une avancée vers la modernité.
Comme rédacteur en chef dans les premiers mois de cette aventure, sous l’œil averti de Jean Gardy Lorcy, j’avais pu compter sur le talent et le professionnalisme de Jacques Desrosiers, de Lionel Édouard, de Noclès Debreus, d’Emmanuel Jacquet, et d’un tas d’autres jeunes plumes qui se sont imposées par la suite même à l’étranger.
On ne saurait ne pas féliciter surtout l’Ingénieur Hervé Lerouge qui a compris l’importance de la presse dans une société démocratique. Lancer surtout un nouveau quotidien, un journal papier était un véritable défi. Il fallait avoir une vision citoyenne avant une vision axée seulement sur la rentabilité. Dans un pays alors déjà à l’époque viciée par les problèmes politiques et l’insécurité, peu d’entrepreneurs se seraient risqués dans un tel secteur. Hervé Lerouge a pris le risque et a relevé le défi avec le panache qu’on lui connait.
Le National continue son chemin dans un contexte de plus en plus difficile. Notre nation risque de disparaître avec cette communauté d’aventuriers et de bandits de tout poil qui ont pris en otage la barque nationale. La presse a un rôle capital à jouer dans un contexte délétère où les réseaux sociaux, purement affairistes, sont occupés par un sensationnalisme orné d’une sonore médiocrité. Mais Le National, conformément à la mission qu’il s’est donnée, continuera son chemin. Nous sommes convaincus qu’avec la frange saine de notre communauté, on arrivera à bon port. Celui de la paix, de la concorde, du travail et de la sécurité.

I thought my life had nothing to offer anymore because life became meaningless to me because I had HERPES virus, the symptoms became very severe and bold and made my family run from and abandoned me so they won't get infected.
